In chapter 4 there was a lot of topics that i took from the discussion in class. compassionate critical listening is something people do but most do not know their doing it. compassionate listening is when your engage in the topic and not just listening but actually paying attention.
The first topic i want to talk about is dialogic listening. this type of listening is important developing stance of critical compassionate listening because these are both approaches to creating and maintaining relationships across differences in communication. this type of listening develop question, debate, and challenge one another.
The last topic i want to talk about is public advocacy (listening to learn). if we are listening to learn we will learn a lot more than just listening for a purpose. what i mean about this is that instead of listening and not really paying attention to what the speaker is presenting try to learn something from it and gain knowledge of what the speaker is saying to us.
