Media is all around us; since technology has increased immensely we are surrounded by the media even when we think we are not. The media has a interesting way of sucking us in, they tell us either what we want to hear, or things that we as humans can improve on. I think the media has pros and cons to it, but I think it has definitely changed society in how people relate to others or even perceive themselves. In today’s society, women are harder on themselves more than ever, men also.

The media portrays this ideal image that they think is the ideal beauty, when less than 5% of women and men actually look like that. It is making girls more insecure with who they are and their bodies at a younger age. The media can be a great resource to get the word out about certain events or what is going on in the world, to stay informed. But if the media keeps using their influence on negative things, then the society can fall. I think the media needs to use their influences and advantages to help create a system that promotes safety and love, not create a divide and upset within the culture.

I think this relates to what we have talked about in class because the cultures are divided even more with the media because the media only talks about the negative with other cultures and how we are always at war with one another. There is never unity between each other, only negatives. The media should help unite different cultures together to help create a more loving world.
