"Putting images inside your head is just like eating." by Thich Nhat Hanh.

When I first read this quote, I was unsure on what its true meaning was. After putting thought into it and talking to my girlfriend about it, the one thing that popped into my head was news networks and what they produce to its publics and society.

Ever since the passed general election in our country, which I think we all can agree was an absolute shit show regardless of party affiliation, nobody knows what is real and what is fake when produced to society. As we learned in class, people will feed you what you want rather than the truth. Just as advertisement "magically" knows exactly what you like when on Facebook... Creepy.

Now as I said the media is feeding us exactly what we want, and putting what we want to hear in our head rather than what is the actual truth. A great way to think about it is the media is feeding us, and making it seem as if it is the best meal in the world, when in all reality is could be a McDonalds BigMac with a Large Fry.

Basically in a nutshell the media can be putting images in our head which are completely wrong, as stated about the news networks earlier, most of them are completely different. One being a left leaning politics and another being right leaning politics.  One media station will tell you one thing while the other tells you the complete opposite.

Just as we decide what media channels to follow or what we like and how that can effect the advertisement we see on social media, we decide the food we choice to eat. Showing that in what we choose to follow media wise can alter the way we look at the world and put certain images on things in life.

In life we all make decisions on what we want and what we believe is best. When making those decisions we also are deciding that who we chose to follow is the lens on life we will see through. Although I wish all media was real and similar in most regards, it is not and I believe that is the root of the issue in our country right now. If everyone was able to see the world through the same eyes then I believe the country would be able to come together as a whole. But as weve seen throughout history, people will always do what they believe is right, just as they choose what they want to eat, and choose what images to believe or not believe that the media produces to us.
